Weekend Warriors

This weekend was the perfect mesh of getting things done and relaxing!

I almost always wake up before Blake on the weekends, which is perfect for me because I like to lay in bed and play on my phone for a while before actually getting up. So the mornings were spend being lazy and lounging in bed for a while, then we were up and ready to tackle all the world’s problems…..er maybe not, but we did get a lot done.

Saturday we had a couple errands to run and things to pick up from various stores.

CaptureHow does this always happen? I’ve decided that home improvement warehouses like Lowe’s and Home Depot should have Ladies Lounge Rooms where tired and hungry pregnant wives can relax while their husbands consider all 500 blades available for purchase. They would probably make more money, because then all of us wives wouldn’t be rushing the men out the door. Think about it, a couple of comfy chairs, a selection of K-cups, and a big screen playing HGTV….yep, that’s a moneymaker.  Just remember you heard it here first.

Eventually, we made it home and got started on our big project! Following these directions, we made this blanket ladder!

blanket ladderIt was pretty stinkin’ easy and looks great! It’s very thick and chunky which makes it looks pretty cool. And oh so cheap! The wood cost around $6 and we had it cut at Home Depot for us. We bought a “miss tinted” bucket of paint for $5. And now we finally have a place for blankets in the living room.

Also on my list this weekend was painting the bookshelf for Miss Liz’s nursery. Its not quite done but almost there! I think I’ll be able to finish it up tonight. Then I just need to hang a few pictures, and find place for a couple more things to go, and her bedroom will done! I confess, I sat in my rocking chair in there for a few minute this morning before getting ready.

Saturday night, I also picked the meat off the turkey bones and cooked up a bunch of meals. I made turkey noodle soup for dinner, then two rice & turkey casseroles and a potpie to freeze. We will save those for when the baby comes.

Sunday was more of a relaxing day. We slept late, then went to watch the Seahawks beat the Rams at the clubhouse where Blake’s parents live. It was a lot of fun, even for me who doesn’t about football one tiny bit.

Then we headed home for dinner, and well…..

Pregnant wife + tipsy husband = Subway & froyo for dinner

It was delicious. 2013-12-29 19.29.25I had only the good stuff. Vanilla froyo with white chocolate chips, crushed oreos, graham cracker crumbs, a few peices of Reese’ PB cup, fudge and marshmallow topping plus lots of whip cream. MMMM. I wish they were open for breakfast! Only kidding.

And with that I’m off to start my Monday! Kia woke up at 5 am, so this should be a fun day.

Tell me about your weekend!

Wonderful Weekend

How is the weekend almost over already? It just can’t be! The last week has been so busy, its crazy.

I’m so thankful for the 3-day weekend because its gave me some seriously needed time with my hubby! We both had a long weekend and totally used the time to have lots of fun.

We used Saturday to have a little pool party with our friends, which ended up delicious burgers cooked by yours truly. The day was so much fun that everyone was wiped by the end of the day, so we hit the hay early.

Sunday, I ventured into the kitchen to make a batch of homemade biscuits for breakfast!

Sunday Breakfast

The last time, I tried to make biscuits they came out as hockey pucks! But this time the rose beautifully, but were on the small size. I’ll have to keep trying.

After breakfast we hit the up the town! We picked up a flower pot for the front door, groceries, and even a new pair of ankle boots for moi!

I’m not sure what kind of plants are in this, but I love it! In a few weeks I’m going to get a little scarecrow to put stick in it.

We ended grocery shopping for what seemed like an eternity! But we are super stocked up for a healthy week or two.

Today was another fun day! Blake and I slept late, then I went to my brother’s to hangout for a little bit.

I also took the baby for her first swim! She seemed to like it, except for the sun in her eyes so she wore sister’s big hat.

For some reason, I didn’t take any picture of big brother today.

After playing for the little while I came home to tackle some house chores. I got a “new” dresser from my aunt last week, but it has a funky smell so I tried to clean it up.  Plus the regular stuff like laundry and dishes.

For most people this might be a boring weekend, but for us it was perfect! We hardly see each other because of work schedules so sometimes we just need to be normal, ya know!

I’ll be back tomorrow with the baby update! I started the house hunting post, but its a lot more time consuming than I realized so I’ll have to finish it in a bit.

So Much To Talk About

This weekend was my first wedding anniversary, as I previously mentioned, so my hubs and I spent the whole weekend out of town. We used Hotwire.com to book a really nice hotel for only $65 dollars a night. The place was incredible, at least compared to the hotels we usually stay at like the La Quinta. The had robes and room service….top two awesome things! I’ve never used either of those so we took advantage.

We arrived at the hotel around 2 pm and took a nap, I was seriously tired from not getting any sleep the night before. Then we met Kate and her boyfriend Adam for dinner at Black Angus. Both of us enjoyed the prime rib. It was pretty darn good. I also had a baked potato, because I’ve been seriously craving them. After that we went to an indoor go kart track, its one of Blake’s favorite things to do and he was really excited to have someone to really race against. This time I didn’t crash so it was alright.

The next morning we ordered room service and had breakfast in bed in our robes. Blake had the belgium waffles with strawberries and I had granola with greek yogurt and fruit. Then we headed out of a day full of shopping. We spent tons of money, but we got a bunch of new clothes for Blake, including a bunch of workout clothes. I got a few things too but he doesn’t like to spend all day waiting for me to try things on, so I just decided to wait for Monday because I’d be going shopping with Kate.

For lunch we ate at Winger Bros. they have the best wings ever. Seriously. I knew there was no way I’d be ordering a salad here. After lunch we did some more shopping and then headed back to the hotel for a workout and swim. My plan was to do a mini tri, I was going to do half of everything. 1.5 miles of running, 7 miles of indoor bike, and then swim for a while. Well for some reason the treadmill didn’t work right. Whenever I would start to run, it would momentarily stop, causing me to jerk and nearly fall. So I switched over to the elliptical and felt like an idiot. I always feel like I’m just pretending to run when I’m using one of those. Then I biked, the biking went well. I didn’t get all my miles in, I think I did like 3 or maybe even 4, by then Blake was bored and ready to swim.

To the pool, I wore a bikini! First time ever! I think I’m still too big to wear a bikini officially but in front of Blake I have no problem. I felt sexy and skinny while I was wearing it. I can’t wait to lose more weight and feel comfortable in front of people in it!

Then we went to see The Hunger games, I really had no desire to see it but Blake wanted to so we went to the last showing. It was a decent movie. However, twice during the movie I had to excuse myself to go puke. I don’t know why or what happened but I was not feeling well. I thought it was from the movie because its very bouncy and zooms in and out fast, I kind of felt like I was car sick. We moved to the back of the theater after that and I felt much better. When we left I was crazy hungry so we went searching for some place that was open but at 1 in the morning we didn’t have much luck. McDonald’s the only place open. Yuck. I regretted it from the first bite. The bread did help to settle by tummy though.

Sunday morning I woke up still feeling sick but I knew I had to get back on track, we planned on IHOP for breakfast where I built my omelet, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and half the amount of cheddar, and three pancakes. I ate half of each thing and stopped. We did a little more shopping, hoping to wait it out until lunch so we could hit up one of our favorite’s called Waddel’s, they were on that Food Network show, Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It didn’t work out, so we headed home, about half way there I started to feel sick again so we pulled over into the next town and had Taco Del Mar.

That was a lunch/dinner. Once we got home I only had a small snack and went to bed early.

It was really great weekend. And yesterday I spent most of the day with my best friend in the tri-cities doing some more shopping but I didnt really get much. However, I’ve picked up enough stuff to last me until I lose more weight and need smaller clothes again!
